Senator Mike Crapo is serving his second term in the United States Senate. He represents all of Idaho unlike our Congressmen that represent a specific district.
The Senator serves on several committees and they are: Agriculture, Nutrition & Forestry, Banking, Housing & Urban Affairs, Budget, and Finance. Senator Crapo is the Ranking Member on the Agriculture Subcommittee on Rural Revitalization, Conservation, Forestry, and Credit.
Senator Crapo is very important to Idaho Agriculture because of the committees he serves on. By representing Idaho, Senator Crapo is in a position to help ensure that the needs for Idaho Agriculture and the communities that depend on agriculture have their issues voiced.
Senator Crapo holds town hall meetings all over Idaho. Anybody is welcome to attend those meetings to hear what the Senator has been doing and to voice their opinion to the Senator. The Senator also holds special meetings throughout Idaho. The Senator held a meeting on the Farm Bill in Lewiston on February 16, 2008. Not only were farmers there, but there were people who depend upon agriculture and people with other issues at that meeting.
Senator Crapo’s staff has been helping me on the Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) issue with the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) committee for making rules. Agriculture and Forestry are not represented on that committee and UAS will be playing a big part in the future of agriculture.
