Hard Red Winter Wheat

Hard red winter wheat has been raised on Blair Farms. We do incorporate it into our rotation when the economic factors are right. Our area is more conducive to soft white winter varieties and our quality for that is usually higher.

The yields for hard red winter are the same as soft white winter, but it requires more nitrogen to make protein levels. Hard red winter wheat is used for the breads you eat every day and for products like Wheaties and Grapenuts.
